What We're Up To

Good Evening Readers and internet Surfers,

Does anyone say that anymore?

I can remember when “surfing the web” first became a household phrase back when I was a child. I may be giving my age away a bit with that statement, but it just reminds me of how different things used to be even in my own lifetime. I remember when checking my phone wasn’t the first thing I did every morning or the last thing I did before I went to bed. I remember when my parents considered it an essential part of growing up to read all the classic books I could get my hands on, and I remember playing Sega video games with my friend who lived a few blocks away. Even before that I remember playing outside until dusk only to come inside to eat a meal prepared by my mom each night. I know it’s said all too often, but I really do think those times were simpler, even if it was only 20 years or so ago.

What We’re Up To:

These past weeks I have had the pleasure of spending some of my leisure time doing things that required so much time and attention, and created so much interest that I barely had time to look at my phone at all. Possibly because of that (or the fact that I smiled so much that my face hurt) something took me back to being that kid outside in summertime all over again and I have to tell you, I loved it. Whether it was making new connections, or talking about great ideas with inspiring people, or spending a whole day with the family just eating and talking and playing cards I have to tell you, this is the kind of life I want to be living in my twenty-somethings. I have no shame in saying that, and I’m so incredibly grateful for the way things have turned out so far.

Today’s topic of Bigg Mellow conversation is accountability. A word full of meaning to me. This word is so important for anyone wanting to start something of their own and make it successful. It’s about waking up every day and knowing you can trust yourself to get what needs to be done, done. It’s about reassessing yourself every so often to know when you can do better, and when you might need help. Accountability factors into every aspect of life and here at Bigg Mellow we take accountability very seriously when it comes to the satisfaction of our consumers with our brand as a whole.

Sometimes this can be tough. For example, as we all know, with the holidays just behind us many are still in that spirit of giving, or partying, depending on which holiday we’re talking about. So many of us are determined to make this new year a year that is better than last. The best place to start if you want to make a situation more successful or better than before is by looking into your past failures and recognizing when it’s time to make a change. Anytime I hit a bump in the road, or something I wasn’t quite expecting I have a choice to take accountability for my mistakes and move forward, or to let it stop me. No way I’m letting that happen! I’ll take every opportunity I can get to grab my mistakes by the horns and get ready to do better next time. That’s what I try to remember every day.

The Incorporation and Translation To Our Business

I love working with Bigg Mellow because they also take accountability very seriously. When it comes to members of our team, no one is left out. Everyone comes up with ideas, everyone wears the clothes, everyone supports the ideology that this is more than just a brand. We have such a huge nostalgia for simpler times and spend so much of our time trying to figure out how to harness it and give it back to you: our people. Bigg Mellow stands for the past, present, and future of our generation spanning over all the years of our lives, starting with surfing the net as kids, and sharing our lives and ideas on the net as adults, and everything that has happened in between. We relive the sentimental value of past experiences with our clothes and our conversations everyday, and wouldn’t it be nice if we could spread that sentiment to everyone, including the people who remember what it was like back in the day.

Moving Up, Moving On

I really can’t wait to share with you some of the things that will be coming up in the next few months, and as much as I hate to make you wait, I know you will love the things Bigg Mellow is about to unveil as much as I do. As for me personally I am waiting on some fresh, special order gear myself. If you are interested in getting your hands on a special order or two stay tuned, and follow this blog for info on how you can get it. Also, keep your eyes out for some new colors and styles being added to our online store and don’t forget to follow us on Instagram @biggmellow and @blog.tiff.
